    a) Big momma is so big, she can get group insurance rates.
    b) Big momma is so big, she gets clothes in three sizes: extra large, jumbo and oh-my-god-it's-coming-towards-us!
    c) Big momma is so big, when she gets on the scale it says 'to be continued.'
    d) Actually, big momma is so big, when she gets on the scale it says 'One at a time, please!'
    e) Hey... uh - the movie is about 'Big Momma' not 'Yo Mama'. Get your head out of the toilet.

For those that are interested, I am starting a petition to Universal. Please sign your name and email address only.

Universal, we are very pleased that you have finally released Jaws on DVD.
However, many of the fans feel that the release didn't give this classic
film the respect it deserves. We are petitioning you to produce a more
in-depth, 2-disc limited edition release. In regards to it we, the many fans,
feel that what you have done is a travesty and diminishes the very quality
of the film. As sited below, these are the problems we feel should be
    corrected:

    1. Offer the option for the viewer to watch Jaws with the original 1.0 mono
mix. Many fans feel that the new remix degrades and tarnishes the Oscar
winning sound and it is the original sound, in part, that makes Jaws the
    classic that it is.

    2. Show ALL of the deleted scenes and place each scene on the DVD with a
separate chapter selection for each one. To do anything less than what was
offered on the Signature Collection Laser Disc was a poor decision on the
    part of Universal.

    3. Show us ALL of the available bloopers and outtakes. There were bloopers
and outtakes (i.e., Brody pouring wine over Hooperís head, The original
daylight scene of Ben Gardnerís boat being found) that aired on TV's
Bloopers, Blunders and Practical Jokes and on the Laser disc that were
omitted from the DVD. Offer an individual chapter selection for each of
    these as well.

    4. Give us the complete 2-hour documentary. If it takes 2-discs, so be it.
This documentary was fabulous and to cut it down was a complete injustice.

Don't give us just a laser disc rehash! In doing a commemorative DVD, you
should have done some REAL research and given Jaws fans something more, such
    as:

    5. There is a 1 Hour travel film on Marthas Vineyard that was shot while
Jaws was being made there and over half of this is devoted to Jaws,
including RARE interviews of Robert Shaw as Quint in his wardrobe as well as
some professionally shot behind the scenes footage. This, above most
anything new that you could offer, would be the best due to the fact that
Shaw's death makes it impossible to do any present day interviews. What an
incredible treat this would be to see.

    6. Offer the television news stories that were taped and broadcast in 1974
    by CBS and the BBC.

    7. Offer the behind the scenes coverage by The Mike Douglas Show in 1974 and
the subsequent actor interviews done in 1975.

    8. Audio commentary by key members of the crew and/or cast.

Universal, we are all very disappointed by this DVD and, by petition, demand
a more in depth 2-disc DVD with more coverage that we all know is available.
Give Jaws the attention it really deserves:

Thanks, Chuck. Although I wrote the DCN review, I did not have any LaserDisc or other information with which to compare, and so whole-heartedly agree on hearing your evidence!

PS: Recommended to ALL! Pro-activity on the web IS being heard and responded to by the movie studios!

Sean, thank you for your support. While the Jaws DVD is hailed a success with over 500,000 sold already, it is a sad day to see Universal simply release A hacked, shortened version of the laser disc to DVD and dare call it a 25th Anniversary commemorative edition. Rediculous. I have the laser disc and the DVD, and the bonus material on the laser disc quardruples whats on the DVD. The ONLY thing the DVD has going for it is that we can now watch Jaws uninterrupted, w/o having to get up every 20 minutes to flip the disc.

As for the bonus stuff I mentioned, I have actually seen all of it at some point, but piece mill. How great it would be to have it all on DVD.

Yes, honestly - unless there is some sort of legal issue limiting a studio to release certain materials ... there's no reason why a laserdisc edition shouldn't be replicated, if not made better on a DVD special edition release years later.
