Random Poll: Just how big is big momma?

    a) Big momma is so big, she can get group insurance rates.
    b) Big momma is so big, she gets clothes in three sizes: extra large, jumbo and oh-my-god-it's-coming-towards-us!
    c) Big momma is so big, when she gets on the scale it says 'to be continued.'
    d) Actually, big momma is so big, when she gets on the scale it says 'One at a time, please!'
    e) Hey... uh - the movie is about 'Big Momma' not 'Yo Mama'. Get your head out of the toilet.

I must now admit that I've never seen a 'Planet of the Apes' film through from start to finish.

With these movies coming to DVD (the box set in mid-August), can people please make recommendations of which of the included movies is worth seeing (for those of us that may not want to jump right in on the box set) ... if not all of them?

    Thanks!

The first movie, "Planet Of The Apes" sets it all up. If you watch them out of order, you'll totally blow it. It's like starting watching the Star Wars trilogy with Return of the Jedi: bad move. These films are classics, and while you may find yourself giggling through the first half, try to take into perspective ALL the aspects of the filmmaking.. it's really quite an accomplishment!

I once watched POTA's one after the other on a marrathon day, though it was on cable. They are cool, they suck you in. You want to keep watching. And seeing them on DVD would be the way to go.

Just a side-note - I finally got the box set and have watched all 5 movies - in order. for the first time, actually.. i'd only seen the first two before.. but all 5 make much more sense - and an interesting paradox develops across the series! Each movie goes into great detail on the individual significant stories within the much larger story - had they chosen to, they could have made ONE movie which in 2-3 hours could have covered the basis of the complete collection (at 1/5th the detail, of course.) - Well worth it - I found the set to be intriguing and highly enjoyable. Not sure if i'll really get into the Making-of.. not too much in ape-suits, but perhaps one, fine, boring day.. ;-)
