Veterans' Stories Focus of Civil War Minutes DVD/Video Release

PITTSBURGH--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Nov. 9, 2001--Newly released Civil War Minutes from a Pittsburgh independent filmmaker focuses on individual stories of Civil War veterans to provide insight into their daily lives and experiences.

Spanning 2 DVD's, Civil War Minutes contains 180 minutes of veterans' stories. According to Civil War historian and lecturer Brian Pohanka, "This is history at its best -- informative, educational and entertaining.''

Executive Producer Michael Bussler said, "My favorite story is 'The North Carolina Bible,' in which a soldier's Bible travels from Confederate to Union hands. An inscription written by the original owner asking the finder to inform his sister of his burial location is never honored.

"My favorite episode for action is 'Seven Days with Battery B,' in which massive artillery duels occur. Everybody can find a special episode.''

The star of Civil War Minutes is Michael Kraus who was the military coordinator on the Turner film, Gettysburg. Kraus along with Pohanka was responsible for its historical accuracy. In the production, Kraus plays the character of Captain Kraus, a Union junior officer, who relates the 39 stories.

The production features five performances of authentic Civil War music by David Kincaid, civil war vocalist, and Gregory Singer, violinist, with a history in music on Broadway.

Civil War Minutes is available through video stores everywhere as well as through on-line resources such as Blockbuster.com, CircuitCity.com, BarnesandNoble.com, CDNOW.com, DVDPlanet.com and Amazon.com, among many others.

Director Mark Bussler, who studied at Pittsburgh Filmmakers, said, "We are proud that our production has received such favorable reviews by important video distributors including Baker & Taylor, Alliance Entertainment, Ingram, Image Entertainment and Library Video who supply retail stores with DVD's and videos.''

Civil War Minutes was produced by Inecom Entertainment of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a division of Algor, Inc. Inecom specializes in the production of documentaries using state-of-the-art technology to recreate history via DVD, VHS and the Internet. In addition to video production, Inecom also operates the Civil War Weekly web site, which presents the history of the Civil War years week-by-week from original historical publications such as Harper's Weekly.

Civil War Minutes retails at $49.95 for the DVD and $44.95 for the VHS boxed sets.
