It all depends on your point of view, vince. yes, most certainly on a 25" or smaller TV, widescreen can be downright difficult to look at.. but then a 25" TV doesn't take adventage of ANY of the superior qualities of DVD and you might as well stick to VHS. I can tell you this: on a larger screen (mine is only 32") P&S films can be VERY annoying to watch as you REALLY start to feel the missing portions of the image.
