    One of television's long-running westerns, "Bonanza" was the archetype of the "property" western that dominated the genre during the '60s. Set in Virginia Sity, Nevada, it told the story of the Cartwrights, owners of a nearly 600,000 acre ranch, The Ponderosa, named for the ponderosa pines growing there. Vol. 5 - Silent Thunder (#45): On his travels Joe meets a girl named Ann, a deaf mute and decides he can teach her sign language. Her father is skeptical and suspects Joe has other motives.
